frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the tiny white things growing on my Seeds?

Root Hairs are amazing to watch. In the farmland, Root Hairs are not visible because the seeds are covered with a layer of soil. Root Hairs are a normal part of the growing experience and they are a great teaching lesson for children.

Do I have to read the instructions?

Yes, we recommend reading the Instructions prior to Planting.

Can I grow next to a Vent?

Heat blowing on Microgreens from a Vent can cause Plant dehydration.

What is the best temperature range to germinate the seeds?

Germination temperatures can range between 60 to 85 degrees F, however for the best results we recommend between 70 to -75 degrees F.

Do I have to soak my Seeds Overnight?

We recommend that you Soak the Seeds overnight prior to Planting, however at the very minimum, we recommend Soaking your Seeds for 3 hours in the Filter prior to Planting.

What kind of Water do I use?

Clean Drinking Water.

Do you have a video on How-to use the Living Fresh Foods Microgreen Growing Kit?

Yes, there is a YouTube How-to Video for those who are visual learners on the Home page and also on the How-To page.

Do I have to wash my hands when Planting?

We recommend washing your hands when Handling the Seeds or Harvesting at a minimum. Using the Misting Sprayer or adding water to the Grow Container is not required to wash your hands.

Why do I have to cover the Seeds with the Container Lid and a dark towel during the Germination Period?

We recommend covering your Grow Container with the Planted Seeds to promote a higher Seed Germination.

How much water do I pour into my Grow Container?

In the beginning, of the Planting and Germination process, there is no water required to be added to the Grow Container. The Seeds were soaked and the Grow Pad and Wicking Strings where wet prior to planting the Seeds. Apply the Misting Sprayer approximately 12 times twice a day or more often if you are in a dry area to keep the Seeds moist. When adding Water to the Grow Container, only add water down the inside wall so you don’t flush your Seeds off the Grow Pad. Only add enough water to touch the bottom of the Grow Pad.

Can I continue to Mist my Crop with the Liqui-TraceTM Minerals past the recommended period in the instructions?

Yes, you can continue to Mist the Crop with the Misting Sprayer. We recommend Misting the Crop on a water safe so any overspray can easily be wiped up.

Are the Liqui-TraceTM Minerals safe for me to add to a glass of water?

Yes, the Liqui-TraceTM Minerals are Food Grade. One to three drops in your 8 oz glass of water is sufficient.

When can I Harvest my Crop?

Each Crop has a different maturity timeline. Speckled Peas have the longest germination period and start off slow and then take off. Once the Crop reaches approximately 4 to 6 inches high you can start eating your Crop.

Can I eat the whole Plant?

No, please harvest the Crop about a ½” from the top of the Grow Pad. The entire clipping is the Harvest.

Do I have to harvest the entire Crop at one time?

The Grow Container is designed to be able hold the entire Harvest at one time. Our Family sometimes Harvests the entire Crop and at other times, we take Clippings and continue to grow.

What happens if I just let the Crop get taller to get a larger Harvest?

Some Crops will be come chewy and some can become bitter. We recommend you Harvest when the Crop grows between 4” to 6”. Harvesting also becomes a personal preference. Take samples and taste test. When you are satisfied then you are ready for your Harvest.

How much light is required to have a successful Harvest?

Indirect sunlight is best after the Germination Period.

Can I grow my Microgreens outdoors?

No, these tender Plants are best grown indoors in direct light.

GENESIS 1:29:  And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.
